Anton Pichler

Anton Pichler holds a tenure-track position in Supply Chain Analytics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). Prior to that, he was a James S. McDonnell Foundation (JSMF) postdoctoral fellow at the Complexity Science Hub.

He obtained degrees in mathematics (PhD, Oxford), quantitative finance (MSc, WU), political science (BA, Uni Wien), and economics (BSc, Uni Wien).

Anton’s research interests lie at the broad intersection of the science of complex systems and economics, with a focus on energy transition, supply networks, systemic risk, and sustainability. He has worked on systemic risk in financial networks, network-dependent dynamics of innovation, critical transitions in nonlinear systems, disaster modeling, and energy system modeling.
