Olga Saukh

Olga Saukh has been a faculty member of the Complexity Science Hub since 2017.

She did her postdoctoral training at the ETH Zurich between 2010 to 2016 in the group headed by Lothar Thiele in the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory. Following her bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Kiev, Ukraine, in 2002, and her master’s degree in applied computer science from the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2004, Olga received her PhD in computer science from the University of Bonn, Germany, in 2009 under the guidance of Pedro José Marrón.

For her thesis “Efficient Algorithms for Structuring Wireless Sensor Networks,” Olga received the 2010 CONET PhD Academic Award. Her research focuses on efficient machine learning, deep learning, and engineering AI-based systems. She is interested in both the theoretical beauty of algorithm design and model optimizations, as well as in solving real-world challenges.

Olga serves on program committees of international conferences. Her publications have been accepted at top venues in machine learning and embedded systems, including ICLR, NeurIPS, IEEE/ACM IPSN, and ACM ToSN. She is also co-organizer of a public EfficientML reading group.

She is also an associate professor at the Institute for Technical Informatics at Graz University of Technology.
