The Socioscope: a pioneering methodology for understanding societal transitions
Socioscope
The Socioscope project develops a pioneering methodology to study societal transition. It is a new way of doing social science research by making it possible to collect thick data from local initiatives with multimethods across continents. We will combine the data contained in the description and explanation given by participants with quantitative data obtained from subsamples, making them amenable to agent-based modeling and network analysis to be carried out in cooperation with the CSH. We aim to produce insights about societal transitions in the domain of food production, distribution, and consumption with enough depth and at a scale that bridges the persistent gap in much of the social sciences between the micro and the macro levels.
