THE AUSTRIAN NATIONAL BANK SUPPORTS “INDEPENDENT, SCIENCE-BASED ECONOMIC RESEARCH IN AUSTRIA”…
… AND WE PROUDLY ANNOUNCE:
THE CSH IS AMONG THE BENEFICIARIES!
A year ago, the Austrian National Bank (OENB) undertook a fundamental reform of the system of basic funding for Austrian economic research institutes. Since the 1980s, the OENB traditionally has been funding the “major three Austrian economic research institutes,” i.e., WIFO, IHS, and wiiw. But new successful players with innovative concepts and topics have emerged in recent years.
“The approaches to basic funding that had been in place until then, including the closed circle of beneficiaries, seemed no longer appropriate in an increasingly diverse institutional environment,” explains the OENB the reorientation of its funding scheme in a statement from today.
“The new inclusion of the CSH as an institute base-funded by the OeNB should enable a stronger economic orientation of its research profile,” the OENB continues.
“SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT AND SCIENCE-BASED ECONOMIC RESEARCH AS A PUBLIC GOOD”
In the current funding round 2022–2024, the OENB will distribute 12,8 million Euros. The CSH is awarded almost 800,000 Euros.
The allocations were made in a multi-stage selection process, following a clearly defined set of criteria (with the categories science, analyses, applicability of the findings, information and education).
We are honored and proud to officially count as one of the major Austrian research institutes now!
