Carrie Cowan leads the Digital Innovation School and other training activities at the Complexity Science Hub. She works to support students in achieving their research and professional goals and enhance the global capacity to use complexity science to address real-world problems.

Carrie’s expertise includes curriculum development, program management, and evaluation. She uses a data-informed approach to create, assess, and improve programs designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to succeed as researchers, whether in academia or beyond. Her work has been supported by grants from various federal agencies.

Carrie joined the Hub in 2023 after positions in research and advanced science education and training at the Santa Fe Institute (US), Jackson Laboratory (US), Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (US), and IMP (AT). She obtained her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley (cell biology).
