Anja Böck has been Head of Communications at the Complexity Science Hub (CSH) since November 2023, after joining the institute’s communications team a year earlier.
She holds a master’s degree in biology from the University of Vienna, specializing in anthropology, primatology, and behavioral science, and graduated from the Journalism and Media Academy of the Austrian Journalists’ Club.
Before joining CSH, Anja was selected as a Teach For Austria Fellow, teaching science at a middle school in Vienna from 2018 to 2022 as part of Austria’s leadership program for educational equity. Alongside her work in education, she worked as a freelance science and travel journalist for Austrian and German media, including Der Standard, Terra Mater, and Universum. She also contributed to science communication and public relations at other universities and non-profit institutions such as BOKU University.
In 2018, she received the Austrian Magazine Prize for her science journalism.
