Viktoria Weber is Rector of the University for Continuing Education Krems and Professor for Medical Biochemistry at the Department for Biomedical Research and served as Vice Rector for Research and Sustainable Development at the University for Continuing Education Krems from 2010 to 2025.

She obtained her PhD and her venia docendi for Biochemistry from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, Austria. She joined the University for Continuing Education Krems, where she led the Department for Biomedical Research and the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Innovative Therapy Approaches in Sepsis.

Her research interests include the blood biomaterial interface in the context of extracorporeal therapies, the activation of blood cells during blood-material contact, as well as extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their roles in inflammation. She is co-founder of the Austrian Society for Extracellular Vesicles and Past President of the Austrian Association of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology (OEGMBT) and the European Society for Artificial Organs (ESAO).

She is member of the Supervisory Board of the Vienna Biocenter Core Facilities and of WasserCluster Lunz, member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Austrian Research Association, and chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Leibniz-Sozietät der Wissenschaften zu Berlin.
