Tim Booker

Former Researcher

Tim was a PhD candidate at the Complexity Science Hub from February 2023 to September 2024.

He completed his Bachelor of Science with Honours at Swinburne University, Melbourne, Australia, where he majored in physics. His honours topic was in mathematical physics, using analytical combinatorics to solve self-avoiding walk models. Most recently, he was a visiting researcher at the Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability (GSAIS), Kyoto University, Japan, studying the entropy of complex systems.

His research goals were to contribute to the theoretical foundations of complex systems, with a focus on society’s keystone systems, such as democracy, governance, and social media.

His aim was to apply this knowledge in designing science-based improvements to our systems, addressing some of the world’s most pressing existential challenges.
