Philipp Alexander Steininger was a research assistant for the project “Opportunity in Crisis – Empowering Ukrainian Refugees to Rebuild the Ukrainian Economy” until the End of September 2024.

The primary aim of the project was to support Ukraine in reorienting its economy towards European value chains. Specifically, the project focused on integrating displaced Ukrainians into Austrian and German companies with current or planned investments in Ukraine.

Philipp was pursuing a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at the Central European University in Vienna. He had previously earned a postsecondary degree in Renewable Energies and Sustainability. In Fall 2024, he was set to attend the University of Chicago for a term abroad. Philipp was also a passionate advocate for climate protection, having had the privilege of representing Austria’s youth at the last two UN Climate Conferences in Sharm-El Sheikh, Egypt, and Dubai, UAE.
