THINKING ABOUT CITY OLYMPICS
In early May a brainstorming workshop about possible future Climate City Olympics took place at the Hub. “We are far off reaching the goal of a sustainable planet,” co-organizer Dirk Helbing from ETH Zurich told the workshop participants, mostly representatives of cities and various climate action movements.
Dirk is worried about challenges like rising temperatures, loss of biodiversity, mass migration, conflicts or even terrorism. “These problems seem all related to a lack of sustainability. And they are so big already that they will re-rail our system as a whole.”
Dirk’s whole talk can be seen here:
NEXT CITY OLYMPIC WORKSHOP IN SEPTEMBER
In the meantime we have been busy to organize the follow-up workshop on September 11.
“We invite people who are interested in participating and have the possibility of making such an event happen,” Dirk says.
More details about the project, including a link to register for the 2nd workshop on Climate City Olympics at the Hub, can be found on the official invitation.
