José Fernando Mendes is full professor at the University of Aveiro (Portugal). He is currently the President of the Complex Systems Society and the Director of the Institute i3N-Aveiro. He was Vice-Rector for research from 2010-2018 at University of Aveiro. He is currently member of the External Faculty of CSH.
He received the Complex Systems Society’s Senior Scientific Award in 2020 and is Fellow of NetSci (2019) and Fellow of American Physical Society (2020).
His research interests are on complex systems, and in particular on the structure and dynamics of complex systems, phase transitions, multiplex networks, percolation theory, network epidemiology and neuroscience.
He serves on the editorial board of several journals and is editor-in-chief of the journal Complexity.
