Modeling Collective Beliefs
Collective beliefs are reflected in the way different topics are discussed in a community. We use data from discussions in comment sections of news sites across the US political spectrum to investigate changes in the frequency and semantic relationships of different topics discussed over the years. We develop a model of the dynamics of collective beliefs that is parametrized by this data and use it to investigate the effects of different interventions on the public discourse.
