Dr. Andrea Monaco is a physicist with over fourteen years of experience in the financial sector, specializing in the pricing and risk assessment of critical financial products for banks and insurance companies. He currently serves as the Program Director of the Master’s in financial mathematics at University College Dublin. Dr. Monaco began his career studying the dynamics of complex systems at ESRF – The European Synchrotron. He earned his Ph.D. from Université Grenoble Alpes in 2006. After completing his academic work, he transitioned to the finance industry.

His research interests include statistical mechanics, model risk and machine learning in finance, and the emerging field of risks underlying digital platforms.
