Yi Zhe Ang joined the Complexity Science Hub’s Visuals team in February 2026, where he helps communicate science and research in an accessible and engaging manner.
He is broadly interested in exploring and developing transformative tools for thought, as well as new mediums for storytelling, journalism, and education. He previously worked in newsrooms such as The Straits Times and the South China Morning Post as a visual and data journalist. He is interested in creating computational, interactive, and visual interfaces to communicate, educate, and tell stories, with a focus on integrating data science techniques, computer graphics, and creative coding.
He received his Bachelor of Science (Honours), majoring in Data Science and Analytics, from the National University of Singapore, and has had a stint as a research assistant focusing on computer vision and AI.
His work has received a Silver Award at the Information Is Beautiful Awards 2022, a Gold Award for Best Data Visualization at the Digital Media Awards Asia 2024 by WAN-IFRA, as well as seven Bronze Awards across multiple Best of News Design Creative Competitions by the Society for News Design.
