Sebastian Deiber joined Communications at the Complexity Science Hub in May 2026. He holds a master’s degree in biology with a major in molecular plant sciences, as well as a master’s degree in journalism and new media.

Until 2023, Sebastian was a researcher at the Gregor Mendel Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He then joined the communications office of the University of Vienna as a science communicator, science writer and research magazine editor. In 2024, he was part of a journalistic group project that won the Young Talent Award of the University of Applied Sciences Vienna (FH Wien der WKW) in the multimedia category.

He has also been working as a freelance science and health writer, primarily in institutional communications.
