Reto Schneider

Reto Schneider (61) has been the deputy editor of NZZ Folio, the magazine of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung in Zürich, Switzerland, for the past 25 years. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich before switching to journalism in his mid-twenties.

His interests are eclectic. He has written award-winning feature stories on artificial intelligence, household garbage composition, the contradictions of land ownership, and the psychology of first names.

His books deal with topics such as the discovery of the first extraterrestrial planet, bizarre experiments, and more recently, the dubious origins of our opinions.

Reto was a Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT in 1997/98. During his residency as a journalist at the CSH, he plans to focus on the predictability of history, among other topics. More about Reto on his website retouschneider.ch.
