Paul Smaldino is Professor of Cognitive and Information Sciences at the University of California, Merced, and External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute. His research is focused on social and cultural dynamics, with emphases on cooperation, communication, social identity, and scientific institutions. He is the author of Modeling Social Behavior: Mathematical and Agent-Based Models of Social Dynamics and Cultural Evolution (2023, Princeton University Press) and the co-author (with Bret Beheim) of the forthcoming book Mathematical Foundations of Cultural Evolution (Princeton University Press).
