Nicola Dimitri holds a BA and MSc in Statistics and a PhD in Economics. He is a Full Professor of Economics at the University of Siena, Italy. He is also a Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, UK; a Research Associate at the Centre for Blockchain Technologies at University College London, UK; and a member of the Blockchain Center at the University of Zurich.

He has previously served as the Italian Delegate to the 7th EU Framework Programme (Cooperation–SSH), Deputy Rector and Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Siena, and Corvers Chair of Innovation Procurement at Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands.

Nicola Dimitri has published extensively in international academic journals and has co-authored and co-edited four books. His main academic interests and professional expertise span the economics of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, procurement, auctions and market design, game and decision theory, contract economics, and the economics of innovation. In the field of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, he has served as a consultant to blockchain-based companies including Algorand, NEAR, NEO, Polkadot, Tezos, and VeChain, as well as to Exponential Science.
