Miruna Cotet joined the Complexity Science Hub as a Postdoctoral Researcher in January 2025.

Her research focuses on understanding how groups adapt their behavior in dynamic and interconnected environments. She investigates what types of social information people pay attention to, how they integrate this information with personal preferences, and how these processes shape decision-making and collective outcomes.

As part of the Collective Adaptation research group, she designs experiments to study how people solve complex problems together and employs computational models to uncover their decision-making processes. Her goal is to advance the understanding of collective adaptation and provide insights to improve group decision-making and coordination in real-world contexts.

Before joining CSH, Miruna earned her Ph.D. in Decision Psychology from The Ohio State University. Her past research combined insights from economics and psychology to explore how cognitive and social factors shape human behavior in various contexts, from economic games to online marketplaces. She used experiments and process data, such as eye movements and response times, to infer preferences when choices alone were not informative. For instance, her analysis of eBay negotiation data revealed how sellers’ response times reflect their evaluation of offers, providing strategic insights for buyers.
