Lisa-Marie Weidl joined the Complexity Science Hub as a Visiting Student in April 2025.
Working in the Machine Learning & AI department, she evaluates Austria’s groundwater monitoring network’s effectiveness. She specifically analyzes the complex dynamics of fractured aquifers facing climate variability, addressing challenges like data scarcity and nonlinearity. Her goal is to understand system resilience, identify gaps, and inform adaptation. Her broader research interests span environmental policy, groundwater governance, and social innovation.
Lisa-Marie is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), where her thesis research aligns with her work at CSH. She has previously led research projects on decentralized water rights, climate literacy, and sustainable development.
She also directed and produced ‘Narrative Waters’, a documentary contributing to public awareness and policy discussions on groundwater governance in Austria.
