Guillermo Prieto Viertel has been a PhD Candidate at the Complexity Science Hub (CSH) since September 2024.
He is part of the MigraCapax project, where his research focuses on creating policy insights into the dynamics and the socio-economic impacts of migration and human mobility.
With a keen interest in economic geography, spatial analysis, and network science, his primary research examines how the spatial distribution of populations and their demographic characteristics, such as nationality, and age, influence the demand for and access to public services like housing, healthcare, and education. He is also deeply interested in urban resilience, examining how the spatial form of cities, demographic shifts, and patterns of human mobility interact to shape sustainable and equitable urban outcomes.
Before starting his doctoral studies, Guillermo worked as a consultant with the City Resilience Global Programme at UN-Habitat, supporting local governments in developing strategies for urban and territorial resilience. He has also held fellowships at the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation focusing on science diplomacy, and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth, where he contributed to initiatives around SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Guillermo is pursuing his PhD in Economic and Social Sciences at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), which is a member of CSH.
