Guillaume Moinard has been a postdoc at the Complexity Science Hub since August 2026.

His research interests are complex networks approaches applied to social issues, with applications spanning from social movements to the economy. Within the “Digital Currency Ecosystems” research group, he studies distributed governance within a decentralized economy. He explores whether the “web of trust,” a decentralized identification system, efficiently prevents fraud without preventing newcomers from joining an economic network.

He completed his PhD in computer science at Sorbonne University, within the Complex Networks team. He studied how a group of people, scattered over a city, can gather, thus modeling protests. He showed that effective decentralized gathering can emerge from simple rules that make use of the rich urban information surrounding pedestrians.
