“Sextortion” – fraudsters around the world blackmail young men in particular with intimate images / Bavaria’s Minister of Justice Eisenreich warns of the cybercrime phenomenon of “sextortion” / Bavarian Cybercrime Centre follows the money trail with innovative investigative tools
It starts with harmless flirting on social media or dating portals and ends in shameful blackmail for those affected. Bavaria’s Minister of Justice Georg Eisenreich: “‘Sextortion’ is one of the biggest threats on the internet, especially for young people. The term is made up of the English words ‘sex’ and ‘extortion’ (sexual blackmail). Around the world, but also in Bavaria, young men in particular are being blackmailed with nude photos or intimate videos.”

Cryptoasset forensics expert Dr Bernhard Haslhofer from the Complexity Science Hub Vienna (CSH), who is currently conducting an analysis of payment flows with cryptocurrencies in the area of “sextortion spam” together with the ZCB, will present his initial findings.
