Quantifying the Stability of Refugee Populations: A Case Study in Austria
With global displacement surpassing 110 million, understanding refugee stability is more critical than ever. This talk explores refugee integration in Austria by analyzing residential mobility as a measure of stability. Our findings reveal stark differences between refugees and other migrant groups, with refugees—particularly men—experiencing significantly higher relocation rates, indicating persistent instability. Additionally, post-arrival legal pathways vary widely among migrants, with some facing prolonged and uncertain transitions to legal stability. Quantifying these patterns sheds light on the enduring challenges refugee populations face and offers insights to inform policies that promote more effective integration and support.
