DIS Complex Systems Connections Forum
Skills & Interests Exchange
How can complexity science contribute to effectively addressing the challenges faced by organizations, policy-makers, and businesses today? What resources from real-world partners can inspire new methods or discoveries in complexity science?
The Complexity Science Connections Forum, under the umbrella of the Digital Innovation School (DIS), brings together representatives from the non-academic sector and early-career researchers from CSH to explore collaborative research opportunities.
We invite representatives from public administration, government, business, finance, and other non-academic sectors to share examples of key questions, policies, datasets, or other resources that might form a basis for cooperation.
The forum offers:
-
- Insights into how complexity science can be applied to real-world systems and processes
- Unique perspectives from interdisciplinary researchers with a range of expertise
- Connections based on shared interests and complementary skills and resources
Participating organizations gain access to creative and technically state-of-the-art scientific thinking, including new generations of researchers specifically trained to investigate complex systems. The forum promotes exploration of ideas at the interface of science and practice — which may open promising directions for new research.
Early-career researchers gain direct insights into real-world challenges and how their research might contribute. The forum fosters interdisciplinary and intersectoral exchange in order to identify practical avenues for collaboration beyond academia.

About the Digital Innovation School
The Digital Innovation School is funded by the Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria | Bundeskanzleramt & the Austrian Ministry for Women, Science & Research | Bundesministerium für Frauen, Wissenschaft und Forschung.
As part of the Digital Competence Offensive for Austria, the Federal Chancellery (BKA) and the Federal Ministry of Women, Science, and Research (BMFWF) are implementing a joint initiative to develop and secure a technologically advanced workforce for Austria. Under this initiative, Austria is establishing a Digital Innovation School for graduate education in order to better meet the demand for highly qualified information technology professionals. Graduates will shape digital transformation at a world-class level. In addition to technical skills, the Digital Innovation School will impart skills for managing transformation processes. Through the activities of the Digital Innovation School, an exceptionally skilled digital workforce will be available to meet the current and future needs of Austria.
