INTERPOL Innovation Centre is pleased to announce that the 5th INTERPOL New Technologies Forum (NTF) will be held at the Complexity Science Hub, Metternichgasse 8, 1030 in Vienna, Austria, on 29 – 30 September 2026, co-hosted with the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice and the Complexity Science Hub.

The Forum focuses on pragmatic discussions identifying challenges and working solutions to address them. From previous experience, the event expects to receive more than 100 experts, in an effort to create a networking opportunity to exchange experiences and be updated on new technologies and techniques in the decentralized landscape.

The forum is aimed at law enforcement, global experts from industry, international organizations and academia to explore innovative solutions, share best practices, and foster project-based collaboration in these critical areas. 

The topics discussed during the two days will mainly focus on significant challenges in handling the rapid evolution of the following topics:

• Crimes and investigations in decentralized environments/technologies: zero-knowledge-trust (and proofs), advanced blockchain uses, decentralized storage systems, decentralized identifications (Digital IDs), darknet nodes deanonymization, advanced blockchain intelligence and analytics methods, smart contracts and privacy coins, operational relay box (ORB) networks, Multi-Party Computation (MPC), Peer-to-peer networks (Telegram, Session, Oxen/LokiNet…).

• Crimes and investigations in legitimate services and gaming platforms: peer-to-peer networks over Bluetooth (evading wiretapping, criminals evading detection by leveraging legitimate networks), Command and Control hiding in plain sight, abusing online gaming platforms, large scale grinding of gaming coins.

• New technologies, 1/ AI in police analytics and 2/ Quantum Computers: overviews of recent developments and how these are applicable today in police missions.
