Ana Macanovic is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Ana studies how social networks affect life outcomes, thereby sustaining or moderating structural social inequalities. She is also studying processes of cumulative advantage, social influence, and innovation. To understand these processes, Ana relies on computational analyses of large textual and register data, formal models, computer simulations, and experimental methods. Broadly, Ana is interested in the study of societies as complex systems.

Before joining Utrecht University, Ana was a Max Weber Postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the European University Institute (EUI)
