Aki Lee has been a Visiting Researcher at the Complexity Science Hub since June 2026.

Her research at CSH focuses on the visual and digital transformation of a community-based ethnobotanical archive. Working with Liuhuaying Yang from the Data Visualization team, she explores how knowledge generated through artistic and participatory practices can be translated into data and communicated in meaningful ways.

She is a PhD candidate in Social Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where she also completed her master’s degree with distinction. She has given guest lectures at the University of Arts Linz, Hong Kong Baptist University, and the University of Applied Arts Vienna, among other institutions.

As an urban practitioner, she as been involved in urban regeneration projects since 2014, contributing to both public and private initiatives in a range of roles. During 2019-2020, she also serves as Events and Learning Manager at Design Society, China’s first design museum, co-founded by China Merchants Group and the Victoria and Albert Museum, UK.
